Welcome Hannah Elizabeth

Hannah Elizabeth was born Tuseday Jan 12 after a very quick labor. Steph had contractions at home for a few hours in the morning (and was very thankful for Sesame Street to keep Sophia occupied) while Axel took the train home from work. He arrived just after 11 am and about a minute before Gramma arrived to watch Sophia. We got in the car to go to the hospital, which is luckily just about 5 minutes away since contractions were about 2 minutes apart and quite intense. Hannah was born at 12:25, just about an hour after we checked into the hospital. She was a healthy 7 pounds 9 ounces, 19.5 inches (1 pound bigger than Sophia was and the same length). Mom had a little blood pressure drop after such a quick labor but within a few hours was feeling much better. Gramma and Big Sister Sophia came to the hospital and were able to meet Hannah just a few hours after she was born, while we were still recovering in the delivery room. Auntie Christine came a little later to help with Sophia since Gramma had to leave to teach her first class at Gordon College. (do you think maybe she was a bit distracted as she taught?) Gramma came back on her way home and the next day with Sophia. Axel was sick Tuesday night and called Gramma early in the morning to have her come and take care of Sophia. Since he was sick Tuesday night and all of Wednesday, he wasn't able to come back to the hospital until we checked out on Thursday morning. Thankfully Gramma was able to take Wed off of work to take care of Sophia. Gramma & Sophia joined Steph & Hannah at the hospital Wed night for our celebration dinner.

Sophia loves holding baby Hannah and was quite amused to look under her blanket and discover that she was naked! Sophia counted her fingers and toes and gave her little sister lots of hugs & kisses.
