We almost didn't make it out due to a snowstorm, but we were one of 3 lucky flights that morning to get off the ground!

Sophia was very happy to spend a glorious 10 days in the warm weather! She is still scooting around, and soon had one rug-burned knee and leg from the carpets. She soon learned to lift up her knee instead of dragging it on the ground.
Our first few days were a chilly 70 degrees so we had to bundle up in long pants and shirts for our first few walks. But, by the 3rd day we were basking in the warm sunshine in the 80-90s and loving our time in summer clothes! Sophia was particularly happy to have her feet out in the open. Her toes were chewed, sucked, and held tightly wherever she went.
Gotta have the sun hats to keep the sunshine off that fair skin. Sophia was not very happy with the constant smothering of sunblock, but she soon got used to it.
What a nice surprise- Great-Gram and Grampa's friends Betty and Paul showed up one day with a present for Sophia- a super-soft, cuddly puppy. Sophia loved carrying him around and snuggling him to her face. I think she used it as a substitute for her kitties.

we saw lots of Sophia's new favorite trees- palm trees along with lots of pretty flowers all around the park! Sophia loved looking at these trees from her high chair just inside the window on the right side of Great-Gram and Grampa's house.

Why did we bring toys? Sophia has lots of fun playing with the coasters on the coffee table.

We had lots of fun at the pool. The first day that we went, we had the whole pool to ourselves! The next time, we met some folks who were visiting from Ispeming in the UP. One of them even worked with Uncle Matt a long time ago- what a small world!
A friend lent us a nice floaty boat for Sophia to play in.

We took many rides in the golf cart with Great-Gramma and Grampa! Sophia loved every one! She got excited as soon as she saw it and enjoyed looking around at the people, trees, and flowers that we drove past. Too bad we can't get one of these for home.

This is the life!
Great-Gramma and Grampa took us out to eat and Sophia wanted to try a bite of Mommy's prime rib- and loved it! I've never seen her as excited about trying a new food as she was with her few bites of prime rib! As you can see, we had a table with a lovely view of the ocean and Sophia got to watch the boats come in and the birds fly over the dock.

On our last day in FL, we were able to attend the Strawberry Festival. Sophia gobbled up a few tastes of the yummy strawberry shortcake and ice cold lemonade.
Sophia even had a strawberry bib (made for Mommy as a baby by Gramma) that we were sure to keep clean for the event. It was a hot day, but we had a lot of fun.
The festival was topped off with a show by Maple Leaf's own Winnie the Clown. Sophia smiled as soon as she saw Winnie and was very attentive for her show.
Sophia was pretty tired by the end of the festival- it didn't help that she had cried and refused to nap that day. She even got a monkey of her very own from Winnie the Clown. What a fun way to end our vacation.
After the festival, we went for a quick swim to cool off before dinner and then we headed off for the airport. Our flight was delayed an hour due to the plane being late arriving from NY, but we made it home ok and Sophia was a great traveler! We got home a little before 1 am and Sophia was very excited to see her Daddy and kitties!
