Summer's Over

Well, Sophia is finally over her cold and back to normal! It took a few weeks to completely get rid of it and get back into her regular routine. The last step has been getting back into her regular sleeping routine- she had been waking up at night coughing and stuffy while she was sick and it took about a week after she was all better before she went back to sleeping through the night. Mommy was pretty tired after 3 weeks without a full night's sleep, but we made it. Axel is back to work and Sophia misses her Daddy when he's gone, but we're settling into a fall routine. Sophia started swimming lessons yesterday and had lots of fun! She started kicking her feet as soon as we got in the water and had a great time with the songs, splashing, and dancing in the pool!

Sophia is now eating "solid" baby foods (really more mush than solid, but more solid than just milk and cereal). She's been ready for a while, but we held her off until her cold was completely gone. We started with peas, and Sophia was very interested in this new food being offered to her. It definitely didn't look like her cereal.
After her first bite, Sophia found that peas have a new taste and texture. She wasn't too sure about it as the first bite was swallowed.
But, she quickly opened her mouth up for more and reached out to shove the spoon into her mouth. By day 3 of peas, she ate the whole jar eagerly! We have since added apples and sweet potatoes. Apples are yummy, especially mixed in with her morning oatmeal, but sweet potatoes are by far her favorite- she ate the whole jar the first time she tasted them.
Daddy told Sophia that she should always clean her plate. So, when there's food on her tray from her flailing hands, she cleans it up the best way she can. This morning she sucked all of the oatmeal and apples that she could find off her tray once she had finished her bowl.
Sophia loves to play on her tummy!
She has been trying to get up onto her hands and knees, but she seems to only be able to have either the front or back end up at a time.
Strong girl- look at those push-ups!
Sophia loves to sing!
She often even wakes up singing, as she did from her nap this day. So nice to wake up in such a good mood!
We've had a fun summer, but all of these fun times outside can wear a little girl out!
Sophia is getting very good at sitting up. She still topples over sometimes, so we practice on Mom and Dad's bed or with one of us sitting behind her to catch her when she dives backwards or tips off to the side. Faceplants are much funner when they happen on the soft bed. :)

Sophia tried on her Bruins jersey from Uncle Justin, but it's a bit big. The excitement of wearing it seemed to have been a bit much on a full tummy- you can see some peas on her sleeve.
Sophia always has fun times with her Daddy- his shoulders are such a fun place to play!
