First Foods

Well, Sophia's biggest news this week is that she has started eating rice cereal! Last week she decided to reinstate her 3/4 am feeding and since Mommy wasn't too much in favor of that, we went out and bought some organic brown-rice cereal and began last Friday. Sophia's pediatrician had told us to begin when she showed signs of being ready- she's been watching our every bite, sitting up well with support, and wanting to nurse more often, so this was really the last sign. So far it has done the trick as far as sleeping goes- she is back to her usual 10-11.5 hours of sleep each night. The first day of cereal, Sophia didn't seem too sure of the taste and texture and we got some funny faces. She did keep opening her mouth and got several spoonfuls that were actually swallowed. By the second day, she opened her mouth when she saw her bowl and spoon, and by the third day, she grabbed my hand and pulled the spoon into her mouth.

Sophia sat in her high chair and eagerly waited for the new treat while Mommy prepared her cereal.

A bit unsure after a few bites. She seemed to look at us and wonder, "are you sure this is what you guys are eating?"
The bib is also very yummy and fun to chew on.
Once she was done with her cereal, Sophia grabbed the spoon from Mommy and gave it a good chew.
Day 2 of cereal- Sophia opens wide and eats the whole bowl!
Day 3: Here Mommy, let me help you with the spoon.

Cereal seems to make Sophia thirsty, so she has a little bit of water in a sippy cup- this is also a good way to get her to lift her chin up for washing the cereal out of her neck folds.

Little Michael Jordan has her tongue out all the time lately. Sophia has discovered that she can even chew on her pacifier in the corner of her mouth and have her tongue out at the same time.
Dancing on the chair at dinner with Daddy- there's that tongue again!
Ready for an after dinner stroll with Mommy and Daddy. There were so many fun things to see- trees & streetlights- amazing!
Sophia and Daddy went out on the porch to watch the pouring rain. Sophia was amazed to watch all that rain come down around her. She even got to reach out and touch it as it came down off the porch overhang.
