14 weeks old

This has been a very eventful week for us! I had surgery on Tuesday to remove my gallbladder, so Sophia spent all of Tuesday with Gramma...and she loved every minute of it! Much to our surprise, she didn't mind the bottles and treated Gramma to plenty of smiles and laughs while Mommy was at the hospital and then in bed recovering! Sophia woke up smiling and even went to sleep at her usual time. It was a beautiful day, so they were able to go on a nice long walk. My mom stayed with us from early (5 am!) Tuesday morning until Wednesday morning and made all the difference in letting me get some much needed rest. After Gramma went home, Sophia had lots of Daddy time since Axel took the week off of school to stay home and take care of both of us. I felt better each day and by Saturday I was even able to carry Sophia around the house. Saturday night we went to meet her great-grandparents who had just arrived home from Florida. Unfortunately, Sophia was fussy when we got there, so we'll have to wait for photos.

Playing with Daddy in Sophia's new favorite play time location- Gramma discovered that putting Sophia's playmat on the futon by the window provides lots of entertainment! Sophia can look at her toys, the mirror in the center of her toybar, and can still see the trees out the window.
Sophia now laughs out loud fairly often, and it was a wonderful sound Wednesday morning when I got up and was able to see her! (I stayed hidden from her on Tuesday just in case she tried to cry for me.) I can't believe how much I missed her after not being able to hold her for a day!

Daddy was pretty tired since he had to get up each day to lift Sophia out of her crib so that Mommy could feed her. For he first few days, he also had to hold Sophia so that she didn't rub against Mommy's sore tummy. Daddy and Sophia enjoyed a few naps together this week.

Yea for playtime with Daddy! Sophia really enjoyed having Daddy home all day this week. We're going to miss him now that he's back to work.

After she was all washed off in her bathseat, Daddy let Sophia sit in the bathwater to splash around a bit. She had fun, but she's pretty slippery, so she still has to sit in the seat for bathing. You can tell there is a window over her shoulder!
Daddy does everything he can to try to cheer up a fussy, sleepy Sophia.
Daddy discovered that Sophia liked looking out the window at the rain, so even though she kept kicking his neck, he let her sit on his chest and look out the window while Mommy finished her dinner. This night it seemed to be the only thing that kept her happy. This was during one of the few fussy times we had this week- Sophia was great all week!
By Saturday, Mommy felt well enough to go outside for a walk. Sophia enjoys looking up at the trees, listening to the birds, and checking out the neighborhood.
