Thanks to everyone who supported Axel & my mom in their bike-a-thon this past weekend. They rode 25 miles in 2 hours and their team raised almost $2,000!

We kicked off the weekend with a fun night at Fuddruckers Saturday night. Sophia loved watching the water/lights show, trapeze artists, & jellybean sculptures before our yummy burgers. She was a little weary of Wally the Green Monster up on the wall, holding a Yankee player in his hand and ever since that night she has been asking to make sure that Wally only stays in the store and can't come out to get her.
Axel biked from our house to the starting line so that we could have the car to see him from the park along the way and then to join him at the finish line. After breakfast & some playing in their matching PJs we took off for the park where we met Great-Gramma & Great-Grampa. We arrived just in time to play for a little bit before Axel & Gramma got there. Axel & their teammate Kevin biked ahead of my mom so that they could stop & say hi to us. Sophia was thrilled to see Dad but wasn't so sure about sitting on his bike. Sophia stopped to clap for each rider who came by the park.
We then rode to the finish line where we met Great-Gramma, Great-Grampa, Auntie Christine, cousin Zachary, Great-Aunt Laura & Uncle Michael. We arrived just in time to see team UCC Magnolia finish the 25 mile race just 2 hours after they started! Sophia loved clapping for all the riders and dancing to the music (videos at the bottom of this post) but was a little shy when one of the event organizers joined in her dancing. We enjoyed some more Fuddruckers food & Sophia even got a balloon dog on a leash from the clown. The only glitch in the day was when Gramma's biking shoe got stuck in her pedal. Luckily she already had the other foot unclicked and she was at the finish line. Many people tried to help get her shoe off, but Axel ended up putting it in her car with the shoe still attached. We are very thankful that this didn't happen during the race and that Gramma wasn't hurt!
